Jihoe Koo is a mother of three children and a New York based artist whose work spans multiple media from printmaking, drawing, illustration and installation art. She was born in Seoul, Korea and moved to France for her art training. She earned Diplome from École Nationale Supérieure des Beaux-Arts, section de la gravure in Paris, France and MFA in printmaking from Sung-shin Women’s University, Seoul, Korea. Starting with her first solo exhibition in 2009, she has participated in numerous national and international exhibitions. Major exhibitions where her work has been selected include the 5th Japan Sapporo International Print Biennale (2000), NYFA Mentoring Art Program New York (2010), Brooklyn Dumbo Art Festival (2011), and the 6th Governors Island Art Fair New York (2013). etc. NYFA special exhibitions include 'Borderless: In Perspective' (2017) curated by David Terry in Berlin, Germany, and 'We The People' curated by Han Haeng-gil at KAFNY Ozaneaux New York Art Space (2017), etc. She participated as an art curator in the New York Studio Anis Showroom 'SoHo Art Series Exhibition Project' (2018-2019). She curated the New York Public Library's 'Branch to Branch' self-challenge project (2017-2023) and 'From Dissonance to Harmony: Collage, Art as Object' at ACC Gallery in New Jersey(2023).
구지회는 현재 뉴욕에서 세 자녀를 키우는 엄마이자 작가로서 판화, 일러스트레이션, 드로잉, 설치 미술 등 다양한 매체에서 작업합니다. 한국에서 태어나 미술 훈련을 위해 프랑스로 이주한 그녀는 국립미술대학교에서 판화를 전공하고 성신여자대학교에서 판화학으로 석사학위를 받았습니다. 2009년 첫 개인전을 시작으로 현재까지 국내외 다수의 전시에 참여해왔습니다. 선정된 주요 전시로는 제5회 일본 삿포로 국제 판화 비엔날레(2000), NYFA 멘토링 예술 프로그램 뉴욕(2010), 브루클린 덤보 아트 페스티벌(2011), 제6회 가버너스 아일랜드 아트페어 뉴욕(2013), NYFA 스페셜 전시 등이 있습니다. NYFA 특별 전시로는 데이비드 테리 큐레이터 기획전시 'Borderless: In Perspective' 독일 베를린(2017), 한행길 큐레이터 기획전시 'We The People', KAFNY, 오자노, 뉴욕 아트 스페이스(2018) 등에 참여하였습니다. 구지회가 기획한 전시로는 뉴욕공립도서관 'Branch to Branch' 챌린지 프로젝트(2017-2023), ACC gallery '불협화음에서 조화로 : 콜라쥐, 오브제로서의 미술' 기획전 (2023)이 있으며, Studio Anis Showroom '소호 아트 시리즈 전시 프로젝트' New York (2018-2019)의 미술 큐레이터로 참여하였습니다.
